

Lawrence Mead Jensen, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Longmont on August 10, 1938, Larry was raised in the Highlandlake community near Mead, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He was the Great Grandson of Highlandlake community founder Lorin Mead. He graduated from Mead High School in 1956 before serving in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961, including two years stationed in Japan.
After his military service, Larry earned his degree from the University of Colorado in 1966. He began his accounting career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse & Co. before establishing his own CPA practice in Longmont in 1969. He retired as a partner of JBSK CPA and founded 1031 Corporation in 1990, a company that was later acquired by FirstBank. He was a leader in the early development of 1031 exchanges.
Larry believed in giving back to his community. He served as President of the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club of Longmont, President of the Longmont Rotary Charity Fund, and President of the Northern Colorado Chapter of the Colorado Society of CPAs. He was also a founding member of the Longmont Area Economic Council, helping foster economic growth and opportunity in the region. He also served on the board of Historic Highlandlake Church.
In 1963, Larry married Veronica Harrison (who passed away in 1969), and together had a son, Chris Mead Jensen. Larry married Milicent Cooper Jensen, on December 26, 1970 sharing 56 happy years together along with his beloved dogs.
Larry enjoyed the water and watching wildlife. He was an avid competitive sailor and raced with the Carter Lake Star Fleet for 25 years, forming lasting friendships through the sport he loved.
Larry is survived by his wife, Milicent Cooper Jensen, his son, Chris Mead Jensen, granddaughters Amber Rousselot and Talia Brauchler-Jensen, his sisters Judy Sargent and Linda Spurlock, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry will be remembered for his integrity, his quiet leadership, his dedication to family and community, and the lasting impact he made through both his profession and his service to others.
