

CUSHMAN, Lewis Sherman, 77, of Jamestown, CO died August 16, 2009 at his home on the Cushman Ranch. We lost a father, grandfather, neighbor, friend and a great part of Colorado history. His family were pioneers of the Saint Vrain Valley.Lewis was born October 18, 1931 in Longmont, the son of Lewis ""Bud"" and Amy (Sherman) Cushman. On June 24, 1951 he married Ramona Adamson and they had three daughters. He then married Lee Moran on June 13, 1982 in Alcamel, Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2005.Mr. Cushman was a graduate of Longmont High School. He served in the U.S. Air force as a K Systems specialist from 1951-1955. He was a farmer/rancher and later became a licensed Realtor specializing in farms and ranches.He was a member of the Hygiene Methodist Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He held various offices for Farm Bureau and the Cattleman's Association. His enjoyments were history, politics and current events as well as being a small aircraft pilot, fishing, and hiking, swimming and piloting a boat in the Bahamas.Preceding Lewis in death were his parents, wife Lee, brothers Walter, Charles and John Cushman and infant son NathanSurvivors include his daughters Patricia Cushman, Morrison, CO, Cathy (Larry) Intermill of Alliance, NE and Sondra (Ray) Hopkins of Carmichael, CA, brother Harley (Delores) of Keeline, WY and sister Margaret (Don) Smith of Greeley, COMemorial services will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. on the Cushman Ranch, at 177 High Lake Drive, Jamestown, CO with Pastor Don Smith of Platteville Baptist Church officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont, COMemorials may be made to Hospice of Boulder County, the Make a Wish Foundation of Nebraska or the American Cancer Society.
