Linda A. D’Orazio, 70, of Longmont, died March 25, 2013 at Life Care Center of Longmont following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Born October 20, 1942 in Belle Fouche, South Dakota, the daughter of Rand and Marjorie (Young) VanDervoort.
Linda married Anthony D’Orazio on December 22, 1974 in Boulder. They later divorced.
Linda worked for the O.U.R. Center for 13 years. During that time she spent a majority of her time with childcare. Ten years ago, Linda contracted Parkinson’s. She immediately did all she could to find out about the disease and its physical and emotional consequences. She joined the local support group, where she became an active and supportive role for the organization and others affected with the debilitating symptoms of the disease. Her time with her peers was important to her. She served as a Past President of the organization and attended meetings on a regular basis. A naturalist, she deeply loved the outdoors and nature. As an avid bird watcher, she took great delight searching and identifying numerous species that frequented our area.
Survivors include her sons Michael (Barbara) D’Orazio of Anaheim, CA and Joseph D’Orazio of Lafayette, CO and her daughter Ann D’Orazio of Albuquerque, NM and her former husband, of Longmont. She is further survived by three grandchildren: Angel Smith and Ariel and Rand D’Orazio of Las Vegas, NV, her brother Phil (Linda) VanDervoort of Piedmont, SD and her sisters Janet Klein of Homer, AK and Kay VanDervoort of Greensboro, NC. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
