

Lionel E. Levesque passed away Saturday, April 27, 2008, at Manor Care in Boulder, Colorado. He was 86 years old.Lionel was born April 4, 1922, in Lachine, Quebec, Canada, the youngest son of Philias and Carrie (Dade) Levesque. He attended Loyola College in Montreal and Shaw's Business College in Toronto.During World War II, Lionel served with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve from June 1940 through October 1945. He served as a member of Combined Operations and participated in the assault landing of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. Returning to England from North Africa, his ship was torpedoed in the Mediterranean Sea. He was one of eleven survivors. Lionel married Mary Thatcher in Toronto, Canada on June 21, 1957.An avid skier and golfer, Lionel was a member of Flatirons Country Club and recently a member of Twin Peaks Golf Course. With a handicap as low as 7, he was rightfully proud of his ""hole-in-one"".He was Senior Auditor for the Audit Bureau of Circulations in Chicago, Illinois. He then became Fulfillment Director of Times Mirror Magazines, Inc. in Boulder. He was a member of the Boulder Elks Lodge, #566.He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Denise; sons, Gregory and Mark; daughters-in-law, Anne-Marie and Leigh; and three grandchildren, Charles, Abby Rae and Alexandra.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gaetane, his parents, and by nine older brothers.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.
