Lionel (Lonnie) A. Garza, 82, of Firestone, Colorado, sadly left us on September 15, 2024. Lonnie was born in Pharr, Texas, on September 20, 1941 to Manuel and Antonia Garza. He was raised in Texas with his nine siblings. On July 24, 1970, he married Rosann, and they raised their family in Firestone.
Lonnie worked at the Slack Horner Foundry and later as a Head Custodian for Erie High School. He was prominent in the Colorado Street Rod scene for many years. His family spent summers at car shows across the state. Most recently, he served as president of the Tri-Town Cruisers car club. Lonnie was known for his infectious laughter, often laughing the longest. His laugh attacks will never be forgotten. He was a kind, good husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He never met a stranger. He cherished his family and missed them dearly when they were apart.
Lonnie is survived by his sons Lionel Jr. (Mary), Matthew (Amanda), and Julian (Shauntina); his daughter Betty Anne (Danny); and his siblings Olivia, Noe, Ramiro, Stella, and Hilda. He is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosann, daughter Barbara, son Ronald, granddaughter Kasandra, and siblings Martin, Manuel, and Oscar
