Lisa was born on February 23, 1974, at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho to Robert David Passmore and Judy Elizabeth Lawler. Lisa grew up in Waterford, MI where she was active in Girl Scouts, Girls in Action, cross country, Space Camps, and Future Problem Solvers. She excelled in academics and won numerous awards. She graduated from Waterford-Kettering HS, in 1992; and from the University of Michigan in 1995 with her BS in Chemistry; she went on to the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine where she graduated in 2000 as an MD at the top of her class.
On March 20, 1999, she married Scott Ruschak at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church, in Birmingham, AL. From 2000 to 2007, they lived in Greeley, CO, and then lived in Brunswick, GA, from 2007 to 2016. They moved back to Colorado and have lived in Erie since 2016.
Lisa worked as Family Medicine Physician at several primary care clinics: North Colorado Family Medicine Residency + Sunrise Community Health, Greeley, Colorado, from 2000-2007; Southeast Georgia Health System in Darien, Georgia, from 2007-2016; and Salud Family Health Centers in Brighton, Colorado, from 2016-2022. She also participated in several medical missions to inner city Philadelphia, Belize, and Peru and dedicated her career to serving the poor and marginalized. She was widely loved and respected for her compassion and skill.
She attended Cornerstone Boulder church from 2016-2022. Lisa belonged to the WPDC - Women Physicians & Dentists in Christ and the AAFP - American Academy of Family Physicians. In her free time, she enjoyed hiking, cooking, tea, reading, Fall, mountains, skiing, Shakespeare, space, Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel movies, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Doctor Who, and Hallmark movies.
Lisa is survived by her husband Scott Lawrence Ruschak; her son Zachary (18), a freshman at CO School of Mines; her daughters Abigail (16) and Daya (13), who all live in Erie, CO; her parents Robert Passmore and Judy Lawler; and her brother Mark Passmore.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry St. Longmont, CO. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Cornerstone Boulder Church 1190 S. Lashley Lane Boulder, CO 80305. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the ALS Association - Rocky Mountain Chapter.
