

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Karolyn Kay (Matthews); four children, Toni (Rick) Matsick of Frederick, CO, Mike (Nelda) Burke of Houston, TX, Mark (Dawn) Burke of Longmont, CO and Lori (Jerry) Ascher of Sherwood Park, Alberta; a brother Bill Burke; eleven grandchildren Katy (James) Williams, Joel (Raquel) Burke, Kelsey (David) Lawson, Joshua (Monica) Burke, Shelbi (Micah) Morace, Trent (Sarah) Ascher, Trevin (Lydia) Ascher, Cullen Burke, Alana Burke, Caitlin Ascher, and Alexander Matsick; and ten great grandchildren, Madison Burke, Colton Burke, Jack Williams, Connor Williams, Tristan Lawson, Shaya Lawson, Wren Lawson, Everleigh Morace, Isla Ascher and Trace Ascher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Claudia (Vaughn) Burke, brothers Wayne Burke and Robert Burke and a sister, Lois Kier.
Lloyd was born on December 18, 1932 in Denver, CO to Shelby and Claudia (Vaughn) Burke. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1951. He joined the Navy in 1953 and served four years during the Korean War. He married Karolyn Kay Matthews on January 25, 1958 in Phoenix, AZ. They moved to LaSalle, CO and farmed for two years. Lloyd, along with his wife and son Mark, owned Brighton Welding and Machine Shop. They acquired Westguard Industries in 1987 and manufactured livestock and rodeo equipment until Lloyd retired at 78 years old. After he retired, he was able to spend more time restoring several John Deere tractors.
Lloyd accepted Christ as his Saviour at a Billy Graham crusade. He shared his faith routinely with others and was involved in several church ministries as a deacon and teacher. He was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church of Erie and volunteered at the church’s food bank for several years.
A Celebration of Life was held for Lloyd on Wednesday, February 9th at Bible Baptist Church of Erie. Lloyd's family extends sincere gratitude to all those that were able to attend. Lloyd was laid to rest in a Private Graveside Service on Thursday, February 10th at Foothills Garden of Memory. Please consider a donation in his memory to Bible Baptist Church of Erie.
