
Lucille Josephine Morris passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May2, 2013 at The Peaks Care Center. She was born on March 26, 1918 to Amos and Hannah Amundson Thorson at the Jones County, South Dakota farm where her father had homesteaded in 1908. Lucille graduated from high school in Vivian, South Dakota in 1935 and worked in the family café/garage before moving to Longmont in 1937. She was married to Paul Morris on August 20, 1938. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2003.She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School, singing in the Choir, ALCW women's group, Deborah Circle, and quilting. She was active in Brownies, Cub Scouts, Interfaith Quilters, served for many years as a Pink Lady at Longmont United Hospital and volunteered with the Our Center. She participated in bowling leagues for 30 years and served as a Board Member and Treasurer. She was a charter member of the Jolly Neighbors extension club and member of Stein Field Lodge of Sons of Norway and served as historian.Lucille worked mainly in retail over the years at Les' Pastry shop, Foley's Children's Shop, The Smart Shop, Le Fleur de Lis, and as a lunch cashier with the St. Vrain Valley School District. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing, golf, crocheting, monthly Jolly Neighbors meetings, reading, playing cards and games and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norma and Eleda, Brothers Ellsworth and Sidney, son Richard, daughter-in-law Donna and grandson John Paul Hafner. She is survived by son James of Gilbert, Arizona, daughter JoAnn Hafner and husband Gary, daughter-in-law Connie Morris, all of Longmont. She is also survived by grandchildren Traci Morris-Carlsten and husband Ron, Kelly Morris, Brent Morris and wife Paige, Amy Even and husband Brian, and Cody Hafner and wife Heather, great-grandchildren Madison and Chase Morris, Taylor and Gibson Even, and Calum Hafner and his brother expected to be born any day. She is also survived by sisters Helen of Santa Maria, CA, Catherine Fuglestad of Oakland, CA, Doris Schneider of Madison, WI and Ora Cipolla of Berkeley, CA and nephew Larry Burleson and wife Gwen of Littleton, CO.Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 4 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
