

Lucy went to school in Hillsboro and was active in band & chorus. She was honored to play Taps at many memorial graveside services. She graduated in 1957.Lucy married the love of her life, William (Bill) Peterson, June 4, 1956 after an elopement to Milbank, S. Dak. Upon his death in 2008, they had been married 52 years. This marriage gave them many happy years of travel and the blessings of two beautiful children, Addie & Bill.
They moved to South Dakota in 1964 and while there, Lucy owned and operated a Ceramic business and was a Real Estate Broker. Lucy was active in Scouting, as a Girl and Boy Scout leader. She also got her accounting degree from Presentation College. Upon moving to Longmont in 1987, she became employed as an accountant, later as a Controller, for a manufacturing company located in Boulder. Lucy opened her own accounting and tax service in 1992 and semi-retired in 2009.
Lucy was baptized at Lifebridge Christian Church in July 2009. Her greatest pleasure in her Christian faith was serving as a volunteer at Lifebridge, working in the accounting office, making baby quilts for those in need, mission trips at Cookson Hills Children’s Ranch in Oklahoma, visiting nursing & retirement homes with Touching Lives, and making bears for cancer patients with the His Hands project. Her dearest friends were made while serving at Lifebridge. She was also a volunteer with the Working with Hands group at Longmont United Hospital.
Her greatest pleasure in life was seeing her family grow and being involved in their lives, most of all seeing the grandchildren & great grandchildren in their activities at schools, churches, sports, and rec. centers.
Her husband Bill, in 2008, her parents and grandparents, preceded Lucy in death. She is survived by her family, which she dearly loved: her daughter and son, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services for Lucy will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel on Saturday 09/02/2023 at 11:00am.
