She was born in Texas but was raised in Los Angeles, California and graduated from high school there as well. Her main career was as a hairdresser, but she also worked at LAX in security for a time. She worked a number of other part time jobs, including the care of her grandparents and father when they became disabled.
Lura attended NCC (New Creation Church) for a number of years and traveled to to Israel and several other countries with her mother, Arlene Bennett.
Lura will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery with her family in a private ceremony.
