Manfred Hans Neugebauer

January 20, 1936 – April 28, 2026
Obituary of Manfred Hans Neugebauer
IN THE CARE OF

Howe Mortuary & Crematory

Manfred Hans Neugebauer was born in Germany in 1936. He was the second born of five children of Johann and Anna Neugebauer. He grew up in Bavaria, Germany during World War II. He attended school until the age of 14, then went into vocational school (Berufsschule) to become an auto mechanic. Upon graduation, he worked for a short time at the Volkswagen factory in Germany before receiving a job offer and opportunity to move to the United States as an auto mechanic.

In the spring of 1958 he arrived in the USA on a passenger ship. He then flew to California, and began his life in the United States. In 1960 Manfred was drafted into the US Army, and spent time in France while serving his new country. In 1962 he was discharged into the US Army Reserves and served until 1965. Upon leaving active duty he moved to Colorado and he would reside in the area until he passed away on April 28, 2026.

After he moved to Colorado he met his soon to be wife. They were married in 1967 and had two daughters. They found their forever home in the summer of 1976. In 1987 he became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America.

Manfred was a skilled mechanic and successful businessman who would go on to own and operate Modern Specialists, an auto mechanic shop in Boulder, until he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, hiking in the mountains, downhill skiing, woodworking, flying, skydiving, playing soccer, fixing German cars and numerous home and farm improvement projects. He spent many hours flying small aircraft becoming a commercial pilot with an instrument rating.

Manfred had a great sense of humor and was often found laughing and making jokes. His family has many videos, pictures and fond memories to remember him through. He is survived by his wife, daughters and their families, his younger sister, and brother, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eberhard Neugebauer, and sister Irene Wissinger. He was a father figure to many and friend to many more. Manfred was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. The world will forever be emptier without his laugh.

His wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread in the many places he loved in the United States and abroad. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please feel free to make a donation in his memory to an organization of your choice.

~ Rest in Peace, Manfred ~
