

Margaret P. Wallace-Chesnut, 86, of Longmont, died September 23, 2014 at The Bridge Assisted Living Center. She was born July 29, 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Charles Samuel Underwood and Jewel B. (Kidwell) Underwood.
She married Paul J. Wallace in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1999. Margaret married Rex Chesnut in 2008 in Longmont, CO.
Margaret spent her early working career with Pacific Bell Telephone Company, retiring as a switchboard supervisor in 1983 after working for them for 35 years. She was a long standing member of the Telephone Company Pioneers, CWH Union Prestige Club. She was a regular attendee of New Creation Church, enjoying the time she could spend with fellow parishioners and friends. Margaret seemed to never tire of working and spent 25 years as a Wal-Mart greeter. She also enjoyed dancing, volunteering her time at the Twin Peaks Mall and the Red Cross and spending time with her dogs Ruby and Ebony.
Survivors include her husband Rex Chesnut of Longmont, her sons Larry (Carol) Wallace and Gary (Lillian) Wallace of Loveland, CO, her daughter Jewel (Jerry) Howard of Longmont, 7 grandchildren: Brian (Lashun) Wallace, Tammy Cheyne deceased (Andrew), Tracy Howard-Beavers, Angie (Ryan) Flynn, Kristin (Paul) Sanders, Nicole Wallace-Williams and JP (Leslie) Howard and 14 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 27, also at Howe Mortuary. Burial will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
Contributions in Margaret’s memory are requested to the Lupus Foundation and mailed to Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St. Longmont, CO.
