

Margarita Lucero, 92, passed away January 24, 2020 at Alta Vita Memory Care.She was born March 30, 1927 in Holman, New Mexico to Vidal and Anivez Benavidez. Margarita grew up on a farm in Northern NM.In 1947 she married Alfonso Lucero in Holman, NM. Margarita and Alfonso moved to Brighton, CO in 1951, then to Westminster where she lived from 1954 to 2012, at which time she moved to Longmont to be close to her family and receive loving care she needed.In 1951 Margarita and Alfonso worked as farm laborers at the Holy Sugar Company. After moving to Westminster she as hired by Public Service Company as a bookkeeper and for the last 25 years of her career Margarita was a loan officer and supervisor for Public Service Credit Union. She retired in 1985.Margarita enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing and spending time with her children and their families. After retirement she enjoyed many travels and cruises with her husband and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Wanda Hayes, and three brothers Vidal, Arturo and Gilbert.Margarita is survived by one son Victor Lucero of Walsenburg, CO, one daughter Anita Lawrance of Longmont; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister Carol Ramirez of Las Vegas, NM.There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am, with a funeral service at 10:30 am on Monday February 3, 2020 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
