Marvin Heimbichner was born on February 19, 1938 to John and Henrietta Heimbichner in their modest farmhouse near Greeley, Colorado. He grew up in and around the area helping his parents and two sisters farm mainly sugar beets and potatoes. Graduating from College High School in 1956, he then met and married Joyce Anderson in 1959 while working for Fox Motors in Greeley. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Army and spent 15 months of his service in Korea, being honorably discharged at the rank of Sgt. E-5. Receiving training in telecommunications, Marvin began working for the Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company as a lineman and finished as an outside plant manager after 30+ years of service. During this period, Marvin and Joyce welcomed two daughters Wendy and Sandra into the family and moved to Longmont. Post retirement from U.S. West, Marvin continued to work as a consultant for several years in the communication industry.
Throughout these years, Marvin was an avid hunter and outdoorsman enjoying many camping trips with family and friends. After his second retirement, he began to focus on working with a scroll saw. Becoming proficient at it, he allowed others to appreciate his artistry by selling his wares at various art and craft shows. Throughout this time his family continued to expand with the addition of son-in-law’s Brian Johnson and Mark Doty along with the births of their children.
Other hobbies included working for Habitat for Humanity and being actively involved in his church communities.
