Loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Marvin D. Massey, passed away peacefully at home in Longmont, Colorado on December 10, 2021. Marvin was born on a farm in rural Decatur County, just outside of Garden Grove, Iowa, on July 5, 1939, to Sylvester and Clara (Hollinger) Massey. Marvin attended schools in rural Iowa and graduated in 1957 from Garden Grove High School. He was married in 1960 to Nelda Smith, and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 5, 2021. He and Nelda raised 3 children in Loveland, Colorado, David Massey (Katharine Matthews) of Boulder, Barbara (Neil Oberfeld) of Denver and Deborah Massey (Kenneth Peter) of Longmont. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Alex and Robert Massey, Blake and Cameron Oberfeld, and Austin and Tess Peter. Marvin started out as a carpenter, worked for F.W. Woolworth Co. for several years, and then enjoyed a 26-year career as a window clerk with the Loveland US Post Office. He was a friendly fixture there and knew many Loveland residents and their corresponding addresses by heart. He and Nelda moved to Arizona and enjoyed several decades of retirement there until they returned to Longmont, Colorado to be near family. He is also survived by his sister Joyce (Fred) Payne of Fort Collins, brothers Arlan (Glenna) Massey of Loveland and Keith (Carolyn) Massey of Windsor and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Morris and two infant sisters Judith and Beth. Cremation will take place, and due to COVID 19, a private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
