Marvin Eugene Sutherland

Marvin Eugene Sutherland of Longmont died October 25, 2011 at the HospiceCare Center in Louisville. He was 84 years old.Marvin was born on January 27, 1927 in Ft. Collins, the son of Harry and Beulah (Dixon) Sutherland. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Marvin moved to Longmont in 1955 from California. He married Ianthia Hedges/Smith and they later divorced. Marvin worked first as an installer and later in Facilities for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 28 years. Marvin was of Presbyterian faith.He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers James D. Sutherland and Gilbert Sutherland and his sisters, Ruth Bright and Anise Duffy.Marvin is survived by his two sons, Jim Sutherland of Longmont and William W. Smith of Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Lisa Beech and Dustin Smith; numerous nieces and nephews and his former wife, Ianthia Peterson.A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
