Mary Alice Rightsell

Mary Alice Rightsell passed away July 2, 2019 at Accel in Longmont. She was 79 years old.Mary Alice was born on April 10, 1940 in Boulder, CO to Raymond and Pauline (Farrow) Gonzales. She grew up in Boulder as the second oldest of seven siblings. Naturally, she was an adventurous and outspoken child. She learned how to sew when she was six years old and there was nothing that she couldn't make or mend with a needle and thread.On February 20, 1960 she married Eugene H. Rightsell in Boulder.Mary Alice held many jobs over her working career; she was a supervisor at the Best Top in Boulder where she helped design soft tops for the CJ5 Jeep Wrangler. She also worked at Ball Aerospace, ran a drapery business, and owned her own salon where she was a manicurist. Mary Alice belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was the best joke teller and a strong woman who wouldn't let anyone tell her what to do. She was always the life of the party, and loved to try new things. She always went by her full name, and she would correct you if you just called her Mary. Heavy on the Alice she would say. Mary Alice took up quilting when she retired, made porcelain dolls and loved spending time with her family. She even taught some of her daughters and granddaughters how to quilt and make draperies.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three siblings; her grandson Jeffrey O'Dell, and dogs Hildy and Molly.Mary Alice is survived by her children Vickie Beth (Rightsell) Johnson, Michael Scott Perry, Cynthia Shawn Rightsell, Kelly Lynn (Rightsell) Haffner and Janet Louise (Rightsell) Vandello; her brothers Bob, Richard and Fred Gonzales; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and her little schnauzer Bella.Rosary prayers will be held at 6:00pm Wednesday July 10, 2019 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30pm Thursday July 11, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
