
Mary Leah Cassidy, age 66 of Longmont died March 18, 2013 at Tru Hospice Care in Louisville, Colo. Mary was born June 28, 1946 in Pueblo, Colo. to Donald A. and Julia Marie (Wiley) Cassidy. Mary graduated from Pueblo’s Central High School and attended Southern Colorado State College for two years. She worked as a sewing factory production manager and, in later years, as a contract home sewer.
Mary was a proud member of the Democratic Party and enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, world travel, sewing, and reading. She loved the outdoors; particularly camping, hiking, and identifying flora in Colorado.
Survivors include daughter Leah Herrera and her husband Adrian of Longmont, Colo., and three sisters—Julie Bensko and her husband Dale of Lake Arrowhead, Calif., Nancy Corlett and her husband Tom of Rye, Colo., and Kathleen Cassidy, also of Rye, Colo. Also surviving are her grandchildren—Maxwell Herrera, age 6, and May Herrera, age 4—of Longmont, Colo., in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At Mary’s request there will be no services. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation at www.nationalraceforthecure.org. Howe Mortuary was entrusted with cremation.
