

Mary Agnes Coleman, of Longmont, died at her home on Sunday, March 12, 2006. She was 96 years old.Born January 9, 1910 in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Edward and Mary Agnes (Burke) Phillips. She attended schools in Arizona and Eagle Pass, Texas, where she lived with the nuns at the St. Josephs Academy for several years while her family lived in Mexico. She attended the American School, Colonia Roma, Mexico City and later graduated from Pitman College, Havana, Cuba. She was fluent in Spanish. She returned to the United States in 1934 where she married Thomas E. Coleman in 1938 in New Milford, PA. Agnes worked for several years in the Civil Service, she later became a real estate broker in New York State where she owned and operated the Coleman Real Estate Agency before she and her husband moved to Whitney Point, NY where they owned and operated a motel. In 1968 the couple moved to Longmont where they spent their retirement.Mrs. Coleman is preceded in death by her husband Thomas; her son Richard Coleman; grandson Thomas R. Coleman; and 2 sisters, Maude Burchill and Patricia Anderson. She is survived by her son Edward Coleman and his wife Henrietta of Longmont; 5 grandchildren, Lydia (Charles) Greenhalge, Mary Agnes (Les) Onorato, Christine (Bill) Bushee, and Robert Coleman; and 6 great-grandchildren.A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, the Rev. Brian Morrow officiating. Inurnment to follow at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Foothills Gardens of Memory, Deacon Bob Howard officiating. Memorials suggested to Longs Peak Animal Hospital c/o Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont CO 80501. Arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary in Longmont.
