

Mary Alyce Galloway, 86, passed away on Saturday February 4th, 2017 in Longmont, Colorado. Mary Alyce was born on September 17th, 1930 in Longview, Washington to Chester and Eva Miller. She earned two Master degrees earlier in life, the first being in English Literature from University of Kansas, the second in Library Science from Emporia State University. She taught English at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho and Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. Mary Alyce was crowned the Homecoming queen her senior year at Northwest Nazarene. She was a professor, then librarian for nearly 40 years.
In 1950 she married Chester Galloway, and together they would travel the world to assist missionaries and educators. Mary Alyce was always an active member at the Nazarene Church in whichever city she lived in, and loved to travel. She also loved to sew, crochet, and read for hours. She was a Pioneer Faculty Emerita at MNU, and enjoyed charting her family’s genealogy.
Mary Alyce is survived by her husband Chester, their children Jan (Tim) McIntire, and Sherry (Richard) Hannon. She is further survived by her grandchildren Natasha (Josh), Richard “Buz” (Tara), Nicole (Zack), Reid, Ashlie, Tevan, and Genevieve, eight great-grandchildren and her brother Ron Miler. She is preceded by her parents.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 9th at 1:00 pm at Longmont Church – Nazarene, 2111 Mountain View Ave, Longmont, with burial at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, pleae contribute to either of the following scholarships: The Mary Alyce Galloway Scholarship at Mid-America Nazarene University or The Chester and Eva Miller Scholarship at Northwest Nazarene University.
