
Mary Lou Hogan, 91, formerly of Denver, Co., died on May 15, 2012, at Sunrise Assisted Living, In Boulder, Co Mary Louise Kessler was born Dec. 6, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa; the eldest daughter of Stephen and Katherine Bryan Kessler. She grew up on a farm in the Cosgrove area attending rural schools, and in 1939 graduated from Cosgrove High. She received her Registered Nurse degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Iowa City , Iowa in 1942 and practiced nursing in hospitals, private duty nursing and as a school nurse in Iowa and Colorado. Mary Lou and Vincent C. Hogan were married on Sept. 20, 1943 in St. Peters Catholic Church in Cosgrove, Iowa. The couple moved to Denver, Co. after the Second World War and to Longmont in 2003. Mary Lou was a member of All Saint's Catholic Church in Denver. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, painting and travel. Her husband Vincent, and only sister Kathleen Welsh preceded her in death. Mary Lou is survived by seven children: Three daughters; Trish (Jay) Gluck of Longmont, Co, Jeanne (Lars) Johnson of Durango, Co, and Julie (Glenn) Johnson of Bailey, Co, and four sons; Dennis (Pam) Hogan of Truckee, CA, Paul (Lynn) Hogan of Longmont, Co, Robert (Mary) Hogan of Ft. Collins, Co, and James Hogan of Longmont, Co, Ten Grandchildren, and Five Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 18, 2012 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held 9:00 A.M., Monday, May 21, 2012 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Contributions may be made to the Hospice of your choice.
