
Mary L. Kopfman, 68, passed away on January 25, 2012. Mary was born in Nickerson Kansas on November 15th, 1943, to Everett & Chlodene Chain Matlack. She was raised in rural Chase, Kansas near Cow Creek and lived there until her marriage to Jim Kopfman in 1961. Mary moved from Chase with her family to Sterling, CO in 1966 working for KGEK radio, KN Energy, & United Way of Logan County. In 1992 Mary and Jim moved to Platteville, Colorado and started J & M Machine. She worked beside her husband until retirement building a successful business, which continues in operation by the family in Platteville, CO. Mary was raised in an oil field boomtown which was the foundation for her life, and has deep respect for those working in the oil and gas industry. Mary is survived by her husband Jim of Platteville, 3 children, J Kopfman & wife Teri of Ft. Lupton, Jane Moulton & husband Dale of Platteville, and Janet Kirkpatrick & husband Jeff of Longmont. Five grandchildren, Jeff Chrisp of Danville, KS, Jackie Moulton of Denver, CO, Skye Kopfman of Laramie, WY, Katie Chrisp of Greeley, CO, and Reed Kopfman of Ft. Lupton. A sister Jeanne Simmons of Sterling, Colorado, many dear friends and a large extended family of cousins, aunts & uncles. The online friends on both her lung cancer and lymphoma forums were especially dear to Mary's heart.Mary's first love in life was spending time with her beloved family. She also had a passion for all kinds of music, cooking and entertaining. Beyond the food, it was her creative ideas and innovative personal touches that made her parties special. She also took pride in her collection of rocks, and writing about anything and everything. She enjoyed traveling with friends in their 5th wheel RV, from Mexico to Newfoundland. Mary loved being outdoors in nature where she enjoyed both bait and fly fishing.Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Sunday January 29, 2012 at First United Methodist Church 306 Park Avenue, Ft.
