Mary Theresa Slota

Mary Theresa Slota, a longtime resident of Longmont, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, a few weeks shy of her 91st birthday. Theresa was born in Durango, CO, and later moved with her parents, Domenick and Anna D’Ambrosio to Denver, where Theresa graduated from North High School.

While working at the Denver Federal Center, Theresa met Robert (Bob) Slota and they married in 1952, initially living in Evergreen and Denver. In 1956, they moved to Longmont where they had previously established their business Bob’s Toy Chest on Main Street, which operated for over 30 years. While raising their family in the 1960’s and 70’s, the couple also co-owned other businesses, including Honda Cycle Center, Bob’s Motors (Toyota Dealership) and Bob’s Hobbies in Boulder. Theresa was a member of organizations such as The Heart of Longmont, Soroptimist Int’l and volunteered with the Longmont Coalition for Women in Crisis. Beginning in the early 90’s she was employed at Lefflers in Boulder for several years until retiring. She enjoyed working with people and made many friends and acquaintances.

Theresa was very dedicated to her family, work, and to her Catholic faith. She was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Over the years Theresa enjoyed reading, Bible study, her rose garden, the mountains and caring for her pets, leaving behind her special dog, Jazzy. Her greatest joy was the time spent with family and friends. Theresa cared for her mother Anna for several years until Anna’s passing at the age of 100.

Preceding Theresa in death include her husband Bob, her son David, and her parents.

Survivors of her immediate family include her children, Rob, Sherry and Tim (wife Beleah); granddaughter, Aimee Furlong (husband Jason), and great grandchildren Grayson and Raven.

Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St, Longmont, CO, with a reception to follow.
