Mary Tanaka

Mary Tanaka, 84, of Longmont, died July 7, 2010 at the Peaks Care Center. She was born May 28, 1926 in Brighton, Colorado, the daughter of Frank and Kimiko (Fukushima) Tanaka. Her mother passed away when she was young, leaving her to help care for and raise her brothers and sister. Mary owned and operated the Tanaka Florist in the Twin Peaks Mall, Longmont, for many years. In her spare time she helped her brothers on the family farm.Mary enjoyed bowling, watching the Broncos play, cooking and feeding the entire family.She is survived by her sister, Ruth Nukuya, brothers King (Heija) Tanaka and Dick (Charlotte) Tanaka, sister-in-laws Olive (George) Tanaka, Nancy (Tom) Tanaka, Sumiye (Sam) Tanaka, Karen (Rocky) Tanaka and Ruby (Bobby) Tanaka. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers George, Tom, Sam, Rocky, and Bobby. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 16th from 10:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:30 a.m. at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. Services will conclude at the Chapel with a reception to follow.
