Matthew was an active baby and toddler. He began to walk at nine months. His parents were especially challenged by his need to explore everything. Keeping tabs on him, and keeping him safe was a full-time job for his mother. The family moved to Boulder within a year of his birth where he attended Boulder public schools, graduating from Fairview High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Matt made friends easily, always engaging in conversation with complete strangers who, more often than not, became good friends. His smile, his sense of humor, compassion, perseverance, and good nature were always on display. Another of Matt’s strengths was his ability to disassemble most anything, diagnose the problem, and to put it back together, sometimes better than the original. This incredible insight was applicable to both mechanical items and, also, the delicate nature of human beings.
Matthew is survived by his father, John Yarberry, sister and brother, Caroline and Eric Michalak, niece Everett Pearl, Aunt and Uncle Florine and Mick Richardson, Beverly Berry, Susan Yarberry, Georgina and Steve Rodgers, and Uncle Robert Everett. Matt was preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Virginia Yarberry. Matt’s legacy of small acts of kindness will forever live on.
