She was born October 29, 1926, to Marion and Bessie (Reynoldson) Moore. She married Donald H. “Jack” Frenzen on June 17, 1944.
Maxine was raised in Albion, Nebraska with her siblings Velma, Wilma, Ragene and Inez. She graduated from Albion High School in 1944. For many years Maxine and Jack would attend Albion High School class reunions where many memories were made. If you were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Maxine and Inie tap dancing, it is a memory not to be forgotten. Or, if you heard contagious laughter, it was obvious the sisters were laughing so hard they were crying or headed to the nearest restroom.
Maxine’s love for dancing took her to many dances in and around the Albion. This is where she met the love of her life and together they danced their way to a future filled with much love. The happy couple lived in Fullerton and Sutherland, Nebraska before making their way to Longmont, Colorado in 1956 along with their children, Marlene, Don, Lynett and Cristi.
Maxine’s talents were many. She did love dancing, but she was best known for her beautiful soprano voice. She could be heard in almost every church in town singing at weddings, funerals, and other special occasions. She was a member of the Longmont Choralaires and the Presbyterian Church choir.
Maxine loved to sew and would often make clothes for her children or grandchildren. She would also sew on athletic letters on letter jackets, make cheerleading outfits, and sew patches for fellow Golden Kiwanians or simple repair for anyone who needed it. She was involved in local bowling leagues and a member of the ladies golf clubs at Sunset Golf Course.
Maxine loved to cook and bake. Ask any of her grandchildren and they will confirm that everything always tasted better at Grandma’s house. Her love for cooking lead her to a job in the school district. Although she worked in several schools, she spent most of her time at Skyline High School as a cook. She loved getting to know the staff and students and is still remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, infectious smile and of course, the famous caramel rolls.
Maxine and Jack never missed an opportunity to support their children and grandchildren at their sporting events or activities. They even could be seen all over town attending events just because they loved sports. As avid CSU boosters and football season ticket holders, they enjoyed many years supporting the Rams. They were also members of the Silver Sneakers and Golden Kiwanis and were very active in their community. They simply loved being together!
Maxine also enjoyed being involved with a couple card groups, making lasting friendships she cherished. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Together they played cards and games. She was even a good sport at playing some of the games of today that were beyond her comfort zone. Her sense of humor never wavered during these times. She was a priceless gem who said, “Being together were some of the happiest times of her life.”
To this day friends and family say Maxine was known for her big heart, radiant smile and contagious laugh, that would bring a smile to everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Marlene (Richard) Tucker of Sun City West, Arizona, Don Frenzen (Jaci) of Central City, Nebraska, Lynett (Jerry) Percell of Belleville, Kansas, and Cristi (Scott) Zuege of Mesquite, Nevada.
