Mike was born Dec 27, 1951. He grew up in Canon City, Colorado where he met his beautiful wife, Deanna Lou Mackey. Together they moved to the small town of Mead, Colorado in 1971. Mike worked for Red Dale Campers for several years before starting his career as a Rock Mason and Commercial Plasterer. Mike completed plaster work at Stapleton Airport and DIA. He also shaped columns at CU’s stunning Macky Auditorium Concert Hall, The Denver Mint, displays at The Denver Zoo, and more. His masonry work can be seen along Trail Ridge Road as well as many homes and structures throughout Northern Colorado.
Later in life he took a job with the Public Works Department of Mead where he retired after 16 years. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, and long motorcycle rides. He was a good friend, and always ready to help with anything. He had great stories to tell and was always the first to show up for an adventure with his family.
Mike is survived by his wife Deanna Cornell, and son Paul (Megan) Cornell.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring of 2025.
