

Michael D. Farnsworth of Longmont Colorado passed away peacefully October 27, 2025. He was born October 1, 1938, in Santa Monica, California. He was the firstborn son of Ross D Farnsworth and Dorothy E Riebling.
Known to most as Mike, he moved with his family from Boise, Idaho, to Longmont in 1949. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1956 and proudly served in the United States Navy, as an Airman Ninth Naval District for five years, earning the Medal of Good Conduct.
On September 7, 1963, Mike married the love of his life, Sharon (Koleski) Farnsworth Broomfield at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Roman Church. They made Longmont their home raising their children Diana Rawlings (David), Kip Farnsworth (Tracy) and Karen Armendariz.
Mike was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, immensely proud of his children and seven grandchildren: Oliver, Noah, Oscar, Faris Rawlings: Kyler and Ella Armendariz: and Frankie Farnsworth.
A true adventurer at heart, Mike loved the outdoors. He became a licensed pilot and enjoyed skydiving, camping, motorcycling, Go-Carts and scuba diving. He enjoyed photography and developing his own film. Mike had passion and took them to ice and snow driving school. He was also a Master Gardner, growing his own produce for many years and was an avid reader. Mike work for several Toyota dealership including John Elway and Stapp dealerships and others throughout the Front Range over a remarkable 45-year career.
Service to others was central to Mike’s life. He began as a Boy Scout in his youth and, in 1967, returned to scouting becoming a Scoutmaster, guiding many young men toward earning the Eagle Scout rank. Mike also assisted with pairing with USA Wrestling, in 1978 when his son began wrestling. His community involvement extended to USA Wrestling, where he began volunteering in 1987 when his son started wrestling. Known affectionately as “The Hat’ for his ever-preset cowboy hat. Mike worked tirelessly to support countless wrestling tournaments, including 2008 Olympic Trails in Las Vegas. His dedication was honored with induction into the USA Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016 for his Lifetime Service to Wrestling.
Mike also gave generously through regular blood donations, ultimately contributing more than nine gallons over his lifetime. He was a proud member of the Optimus Breakfast Club of Longmont where he formed lasting friendships and continued to serve his community. Mike was a member of the LDS church.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his children and grandchildren, his sister Karen Downs (Bill), stepsister Jennifer Morrison (Craig), stepbrother Paul Collins and brother-in-law Lee Koleski, sister-in-law Shirley Farnsworth (Craig).
Mike is preceded in death by his brother Craig, and his nephews Scott and Willy.
Mike will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity and deep love for his family and community.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, located at 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, CO, 80501. A reception will follow the service.
