

Michael Darwin Woehl, better known as Mike, died on June 18, 2015 in Blackhawk, CO at the age of 57. Mike was born on May 7, 1958 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Darwin and Lavonne (Johnson) Woehl of Lodi, CA. He had a younger brother, Larry Woehl of Lodi, CA, a younger sister, Evonne Schlenker of Fort Collins, CO and two boys, Adam and Christopher Woehl of Colorado. Sierra (Rathjen) Woehl, sister in-law, married to Larry and Richard Schlenker, brother in-law, married to Evonne.
Mike grew up in Rapid City, ND and Lodi, CA and moved to Colorado in his mid-20s where he spent the rest of his life. In high school he played football and baseball where he was awarded MVP awards for his performance as a tailback. He ranked among the top athletes in the state. He played football at Mendocino College where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Liberal Studies. He later went on to work as a professional furniture salesman, some of which were at American Furniture Warehouse, Kacey Fine Furniture, and ended his career at Oak Express.
Mike Woehl was an Outdoorsman at heart and loved being in the mountains, taking pictures of wildlife, fishing, skiing, grilling, boating and camping. He loved to spend as much time with his two sons, and had great times spending it with them at Colorado Rockies games and around the campfire roasting marshmallows. He loved spending time with family playing card games and also loved entertaining them with card and magic tricks. He made good memories playing golf and softball with friends to which he always enjoyed friendly competition. He also enjoyed reading Tom Clancy and mystery/suspense novels in his spare time. He was recently looking forward to traveling the United States in his newly purchased RV to visit family and friends.
Mike is survived by his two sons Christopher Woehl and Adam Woehl of Colorado; his parents Darwin Woehl and Lavonne (Johnson) Woehl of Lodi, CA; his brother Larry Woehl (Sierra) of Lodi, CA; and his sister Evonne Schlenker (Richard) of Fort Collins, CO
His unfortunate and untimely death came two years after being diagnosed with throat cancer and a year after beating it. A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at Howe Mortuary on Saturday, June 27th at 8:30 in the morning. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
