

Mollie G. Burlew of Platteville, Colorado died July 29, 2008, at LifeCare of Longmont. She was 65.Mollie was born on October 19, 1942, in Trinidad, Colorado to Ernest Gutierrez and Antonia Flores Gutierrez. She was raised in Trinidad, graduating from high school there and then nursing school at Trinidad State Junior College. For many years she worked as a LPN at the Mount San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad. While in Longmont she was associated with the Salud Clinic for many years. She also received further nurse's training through the Army.On May 1, 1976, she married Leon Burlew in Trinidad. They moved to the area from Trinidad in 1978.Mollie enjoyed life to the fullest. Later in life she attended clown school, frequently entertaining at birthday parties and parades as ""By Golly Molly."" She also enjoyed rendezvous reenactments as western pioneers, fur traders, mountain men and women. Accomplished at canoeing, she would frequently include these skills during simulations. In addition, she was a member of the South Platte Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling and took extensive trips both nationally and abroad.Surviving are her husband of Platteville; a son, Juan Burlew of Platteville; her mother of Trinidad; three brothers, Ernest David Gutierrez and his wife, Florence of Trinidad, Albert Gutierrez and his wife, Cecelia of Firestone, and Robert Gutierrez of Greeley; and a sister, Cathy Gonzales and her husband, Orlando of Trinidad.A cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Deacon Bob Howard officiating.Please share your thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com.
