
Muriel Alice Harrison died October 25, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital. She was 92 years old.She was born February 13, 1921 in Longmont to Lee and Clara (Munson) Williams. Muriel attended Central Elementary, Longmont Jr. and Longmont Senior High schools. She is a 1942 graduate of Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) with a degree in dietetics.She married John William ˜Bill' Harrison on March 28, 1942 in Longmont.A loving homemaker and mother, she was devoted to her family. She was active with her children as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts, Girl Scout leader and as a 4-H leader.She is a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Sunshine Club and a past president of Chapter M PEO. Muriel is the great granddaughter of an original Longmont settler, Seth Terry and she has always made Longmont her home. She was an active member and volunteer for the Saint Vrain Historical Society, dedicating many hours to the Strawberry and Pumpkin Pie days annual fundraisers. She also volunteered many years for the local Cancer Crusade. In 1974, she and Bill were honored with the first ˜Harrison Award' recognizing their many hours of service to the Cancer Crusade.Muriel is remembered as a very giving person, who said her purpose in life Was to do something nice for someone every day. She enjoyed playing the piano, quilting, cross stitching and traveling. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Stanford and daughter Suzanne DeVault.Muriel is survived by her husband Bill of Longmont, son Jeffery Harrison and wife Judy of Orange Park, FL, four grandchildren Jennie Baker, Josh Harrison, Russell DeVault and Jason Harrison, and two great grandchildren Kendal Baker and Elizabeth Harrison. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
