Octavio F. 'sergio' Libman

Octavio F. Libman ""Sergio"" passed away on December 18, 2006 in Boulder, Colorado.Sergio was born in Santiago, Chile on May 7, 1963. He was preceded in death by his father, Sergio Octavio Libman Gabe, his mother, Leticia Frigerio Montt Libman, his brother Fernando Libman Frigerio, his grandfather, Godofredo Frigerio and his grandmother, Elsa Montt-Frigerio who was nearest and dearest to his heart.Sergio attended the University of Chile. He was later employed as a Ski Patrolman. Sergio joined his family in Los Angeles in 1984 to search for a better future in the United States. His first job was washing cars for $1/hour and he then worked in construction building freeways and large commercial buildings.He moved to Boulder and soon thereafter opened Sergio's Roofing Inc. Sergio became a US citizen in August 1997, which was one of the proudest days of his life. He enjoyed tennis, skiing, the beach, health and fitness and eventually came into the sport of body-building. Sergio was a two-time cancer survivor and then went on to win several titles in amateur bodybuilding.Sergio's life was tragically taken. He died as a hero saving the life of his life partner, Gail Dubois, mi amor. She will miss her soul mate forever. Sergio lived without hesitation for doing whatever had to be done. He made the ultimate sacrifice showing the love of his life his devotion and commitment to her. His warm smile, generosity, charm and friendship will be missed.He is survived by his sister Nicole and three nieces of Santiago, Chile, a step-sister (Paola) and step-brother (Christian), both of San Diego, and an aunt (Susana Libman-Shapiro) of Schenectady, New York.Sergio is also survived by Gail, his life partner, and the extended Fernandez family: Holly, John and Barbara, Tony, Leslie, Mattson, Katrina, and mother, Lynn Fernandez and all his wonderful friends that made up his family in the United States. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Spice of Life Events Center in Boulder followed by a reception for family and friends.
