Olen Scott Finley

Olen Scott Finley was born in Ainsworth, NE on March 28, 1955 to Dick and Betty Jean Finley. He attended school in Hazelton, ID, and after the family moved back to Nebraska he attended school in Wood Lake, Johnstown, and Ainsworth, NE graduating from Ainsworth High School in 1973. He was also a graduate of Northeast Technical Community College.

Scott was united in marriage to Kathleen Beebout on March 29, 1975 in Ainsworth, NE. To this union two children were born, Trenton Scott and Olen Sean. Scott moved his family to Longmont, CO in September of 1978. There, along with his lifelong best friend, Jim Wait, he began a career of carpet and tile installation.

Scott was very proud of his family. He deeply loved and enjoyed them – Kathy who was the love of his life, his two boys with whom he shared the love of bowling, and his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa”.

Scott passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2011. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Finley; grandparents Oscar S. and Rosa Finley, and Edward and Genevieve Lucht; and mother-in-law, Jeree Beebout.

Survivors include his wife Kathy of Longmont, CO; sons Trent and wife Denise of Longmont, CO and Sean and wife Teri of Hurricane, UT; four grandchildren: Lucas, Gavin, Bradly and Charree; two step-grandchildren: Gabby and Ali; father Dick Finley and step-mother Bonnie Finley of Ainsworth, NE; father-in-law Merlin “Turk” Beebout of Ainsworth; sisters LaRene Beebout and husband Brent of Kearney, NE, Beccy Assarsson and husband Mike of Warner, SD; brothers Kim Finley of Ashland, NE, Rick Finley and wife Patty of Ainsworth, NE, and Bob Finley and wife Teresa of Farmersville, TX; step-brothers Joe Finley of Ainsworth, NE, Scotty Finley and Kristy of Ainsworth, NE, and Ricky Finley and Melody of Grand Island, NE; and step-sister Maria Finley of Wheatridge, CO; best friend, Jim Wait and wife Val of Longmont, CO; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18th, at 11:00a.m. at Faith Community Lutheran Church in Longmont, CO with viewing available one hour prior to services. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Johnstown, NE.
