

Orpha A. Delaney passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Peaks Care Center. She was 86.She was born March 16, 1928 in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin to Chester and Elma (Gumbert) Kahl. She married Harry Stoll on March 14, 1946. They were later divorced. While living in Durand, Illinois Orpha worked at the Boy's Farm School. She moved to Lafayette, Colorado in 1972. On August 22, 1975 she married Carroll Delaney at the Church of the Nazarene in Lafayette.Orpha spent many years nurturing and educating children at Alexander Dawson School, first as a House Parent and later as Director of Student Services. She retired in 1993. She is fondly remembered for her loving care and positive impact by many former students with whom she had regular contact.Orpha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lafayette, where she was very involved.After her retirement she and Carroll spent several years traveling around the country RVing in their motorhome.She was preceded in death by two infant daughters Sheryl Barbara in 1949 and Barbara Ann in 1950 and her husband Carroll.Orpha is survived by a daughter Jacalyn Smith of Broomfield, son Jay Stoll (Pat) of Longmont, step-son Frank Delaney (Becky) of Lafayette, grandchildren Christopher Callender, Jamie Velasquez (Desi), Daniel Gittlein, Andrew Stoll, Frank Delaney Jr., and Sophia Delaney; great grandchildren Dominic Velasquez, Anya Velasquez, Madison Callender and Christopher Callender Jr., brother Dan Kahl of Eau Claire, WI, and three sisters Marge Little of Eau Claire, WI, Karen Stertz of Westminster, CO and Phyllis Nereson of Maplewood, MN and an aunt Grace Frisle of Eau Claire, WI.Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Lafayette, 200 W. Cleveland St, Lafayette, CO. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
