Patrick M. McCarthy

Patrick M. McCarthy of Longmont died March 31, 2013. He was 59 years old.He was born May 11, 1953 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Doris (Maloney) McCarthy. Growing up in St. Paul, he graduated from St. Agnes High School. He later attended Regis University in Denver, CO where he graduated Cum Laude.On September 14, 1974 he married Barb Schanno and they had three children together. They later divorced.Patrick had a long career with IBM as a design engineer. He started with IBM in Minnesota in 1973 and transferred to the Longmont/Boulder facility in 1984. He retired in 2008.He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the family cabin in northern Minnesota, the Rocky Mountains and traveling. During his travels, Patrick liked to experience all the wonderful sights and historical significance each place had to offer. Anyone who knew Pat knew he was a fantastic and animated story teller. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, William.Patrick is survived by his three children Brian McCarthy and wife Nicky of Casper, WY, Megan Davis and husband Mike of Longmont and Shannon McCarthy of McKinney, TX, one grandson Levi Davis, his father William McCarthy of Minnesota and three sisters Maureen, Colleen and Irene.A celebration of Patrick's life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, April 6, 2013 at theAhlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.The family asks in lieu of flowers; please make a donation to a charity of your choice or the American Diabetes Association.
