Paula Francine Hurtubise, age 84, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 21, 2026 in Longmont, Colorado.
Paula was born in Vincennes, Indiana on December 18, 1941. She was the only child of Paul and Vivian Brokhage. She attended Saint Rose Academy in Vincennes and later graduated with a B.A degree in Education from the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. Paula married Robert John Hurtubise on August 14, 1965. Paula and Bob were married 61 years.
Paula and Bob lived in Laramie, Wyoming for 34 years. In Laramie, Paula was a children’s librarian at the Albany County Public Library for 28 years, where she led story time. Paula used her creativity to build children’s interest in reading, with guitar playing and telling stories. Paula had a great love of music and played the accordion, flute, and guitar. She played the guitar and led the choir at Saint Laurence Catholic Church in Laramie for years at numerous church services. She also led adult religious education classes for approximately 20 years at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Laramie.
In Longmont, Paula started a singing group called Singing-In-The-Park. The group began in the summer of 2020 to avoid problems with COVID. The songs lifted their spirits in joy, prayers, and fellowship. With colder weather, they met at Saint Francis Catholic Church. Also, over the years Paula played guitar music at prayer services in several nursing homes in Longmont.
Paula had many friends because she focused on the individual and not their point of view. She followed the two great commandments: Love God and Love Your Neighbor. Her acts of kindness and words of wisdom to individuals are too numerous to count. Paula is survived by her husband Bob, sons Tim (his spouse Chris), David, daughter Suzanne (her spouse Kirk), and grandchildren Evelyn and Luke.
Funeral Mass with a Luncheon to follow will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at:
