Philip Douglas Powers

Phil was born on November 10, 1953, in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 1976. He worked as an optician for 45 years. In 1999, he married his beloved wife, Debra Jean Powers.

Phil was known for his servant’s heart, his love of digging in the dirt, ping-pong, fishing, soccer, and his deep devotion to both his family and his Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his sons, Jonathan (Charlotte) and David (Tara), from his marriage to Mary Jean Paris; by his wife, Debra Jean Powers; and by his stepchildren, Tyler (Georgia), Jeremy (Jennifer), and Gabriel (Brandy). He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: David, Laurel, Timothy, Stephen, and Michael.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Shirley (Owen) Powers; his sister, Lynne Robinson; and his stepdaughter, Jessica.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Church of the Lookout.

Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
