

Phillis Mae Wooner died November 4, 2008, at Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Lafayette. She was 91.Phillis was born February 20, 1917, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Milton and Nona (Lockhart) Detwiler. In 1934, she married Benjamin Franklin Wooner in Mitchell. The couple had one daughter, Donna. They later divorced.She worked for Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell for 38 years in the housekeeping area, retiring in 1981. In 1987, Phillis had a stroke and moved to Erie, Colorado to be with her daughter, and to Boulder Manor Nursing Home in 2001 where she resided until her death.Surviving are her daughter, Donna Sipe and husband, Glen of Erie; four grandchildren, Deborah Crawford and husband, Larry of Greenville, South Carolina, Milton Wilcox and wife, Christina of Franklin Grove, Illinois, Brian Wilcox and wife, Rebecca of Johnstown, Colorado, and Vicki O'Hagan and Todd Ioerger, of Dacono, Colorado; and two step-grandchidlren, Dean Johnson and wife, Katie of Independence, Kentucky and Heidi Sipe of Gresham, Oregon. She is further survived by 13 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary, Longmont from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, with her funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor John Kemper of First Baptist Church of Lafayette will officiate.
