Phoebe Jane Black, 74, of Torrington, Wyoming, died January 21, 2007 at Applewood Living Center in Longmont, Colorado after an extended illness.Jane was born at home on February 1, 1932 in Hyde, Colorado to Wray and Dora (Andersen) Mountain. She graduated from Akron High School and as a registered nurse from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She married John W. Black on December 28, 1953, and has lived in Longmont, Colorado and Cheyenne, Sheridan, and Torrington, Wyoming with her familyShe worked in the family real estate business in Longmont and Sheridan for several years, and also did hospice work there. She was very active for many years in the Cursillo movement within the Catholic Church. She and her family have been active members of all their parishes: Sheridan, Longmont, and Cheyenne and most recently at St. Rose in Torrington. Jane worked part-time as a school nurse there, and was President of the Council of Catholic Women. She coordinated Eucharistic Adoration in both Sheridan and Torrington and worked tirelessly all her adult life in the pro-life movement.Phoebe Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bert and Walter Mountain, and her sisters, Waunita Brown, Dorothy Gisi, and Margie Shannon and her grandchildren, Joseph and Mary Krische.She is survived by her husband; her eight children: Sons: John Jr. of Gillette, WY, Kevin of Aurora, CO, Joseph of Longmont, CO; Daughters: Jeanne Krische of Longmont, Karen Pilkington of Berthoud, CO, Sister Michelle of Longmont, Julianne Garber of Sheridan, WY, and Barbara McMahon of Grand Junction, CO; 30 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie Mountain of Springville, CA, her sisters: Marian Davis of Park Rapids, MN, Helen Pont of Griswold, IA, Elva Dexter of Denver, CO and Donna Cooley of Otis, CO and by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives to numerous to mention.Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary on Wednesday, January 24 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Scriptural Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 25 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Additional services will be held in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Thursday evening and Friday with burial at Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne.Memorial contributions may be given to a Right To Life Chapter in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
