

Phyllis L. BohnAugust 16, 1935 to January 21, 2010Phyllis L. Bohn died on January 21, 2010 after an eighteen month battle with cancer. She was born on August 16, 1935 in Longmont, the daughter of John B. and Lelah M. Dailey Fiori. Her early years were spent in the Rinn area. Like many others of her era, she rode a pony to grade school for her first three years at Idaho Creek School.From there her parents moved to the Tri-Town area, where she finished her schooling, graduating from Frederick High School in 1952. Almost immediately she went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone, where she worked for five years. On June 26, 1957 she and William J. Bohn were married at First Lutheran Church in Longmont. After five years of construction jobs for him, they took over the family dairy farm, where they worked side by side for 30 years and raised their daughter and two sons. Phyllis was always a very loving mother and always supported her family and friends in all their activities.Phyllis loved to sew, knit, crochet and quilt. She worked for many years with the Interfaith Quilters. She was always willing to help others with their projects.Phyllis was a member of First Lutheran Church all her married life, a long time member of two different Granges and Colorado State Grange, and for many years a member of Boulder County Farm Bureau and Colorado State Farm Bureau.Through her many organizations, she met and was always able to intermingle with many people, and got along well with everyone.Phyllis is survived by her husband of 52 years Bill; their daughter Mary Bohn and son-in-law Pete Simon of Arvada, granddaughter Lelah Simon of Denver; son Major Karl Bohn USMC (ret) and daughter-in-law Patti; grandson Nate and his wife Jennifer; great-grandsons Nathaniel and Nehemiah and great-granddaughter Abigail of Corpus Christi, Texas; son Veryl Bohn of Dallas, Texas; and her very dear friend Mrs. Russell B. Smith of Longmont. Phyllis requested a graveside service only, to which all are welcome. This will be at Ryssby Cemetery, 9000 North 63rd Street, Longmont, at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, with a light meal to follow at First Lutheran Church, 3rd Avenue and Terry Street, Longmont. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 25 at Howe Mortuary in Longmont; also at Ryssby on January 26 from 2:30 p.m.-3:15 p.m.In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Ryssby Church Memorial Fund, Frederick High School Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Longmont United Hospital Foundation scholarship fund for massage for oncology patients or your favorite charity.
