Phyllis spent her early years in Denver and on the Hatchett Ranch, where she developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the simple joys of life. She attended school in both Denver and Rye, Colorado, forming friendships and memories she cherished throughout her lifetime.
In 1945, Phyllis met the love of her life, Leon Haviland, and the two were married on January 12, 1946. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love, faith, and family. Their shared spirit of adventure took them on countless road trips across the country—often from coast to coast—and on memorable travels abroad to Japan, England, and Hawaii, many of which they enjoyed alongside their children.
Throughout her life, Phyllis worked diligently and gave selflessly. She cleaned homes, worked at Snyder’s Jewelry Store, served as a foster parent, and lovingly cared for others as a devoted helper. Her heart for service extended deeply into her faith community. As a dedicated member of Longmont Nazarene Church, Phyllis taught Sunday School, participated in mission work, helped count offerings, and warmly greeted everyone who entered the doors. Her gentle smile and kind words left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children Marilyn (Mike), Darlene (Dennis), and Debbie; her cherished grandchildren Keiko, Jimmy (Vanessa), Tammy (Kai), and Stephanie; and her treasured great-grandchildren Russel, Noah, Michael, Maddox, and Audrey. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leon, her son Kenneth, her parents J.R. and Helen, her brothers Bob and Dan Ogden, her son-in-law Denis, and her brother-in-law Vern.
Phyllis will forever be remembered for her loving heart, steadfast faith, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched. Her legacy of compassion, devotion, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
