
Quentin Eugene ""Gene"" Idler was born in Ft. Lupton, CO. Gene lived thru the ""Dust Bowl"" and ""The Great Depression"" in Kirk, CO. and attended school in Seibert, CO.He moved to Boulder, CO to attend CU. There he worked as a bus boy at the Boulderado Hotel and other misc jobs to pay for college. 1942 Gene graduated as a Pharmacist. He then enlisted in the US Navy, where he servied during WWII as an Ensign in the Medial Corps. In the service he attended Notre Dame University and Colgate. In 1942 he married Mary Jane Richie. They lived after the war in Lamar. 1946, found the family moving to Longmont. Gene worked in and ultimately owned the BI-Rite Drug Co, 444 Main St., for 40 years.Gene was active in his early years with the Kiwanis and the Lions Clubs. In 1985 he retired, taking up tennis, golf and stamp collecting.He spent many enjoyable hours listening to music, watching the Broncos, Nuggets and the CU Buffs. In 1993 Mary Jane died. He floated for may years. 2000 found Gene marrying Margaret Wallace. A lucky man to have found two wonderful women to share his life. He and Margaret traveled, went dancing (waltz and Jitter Bug), and for endless hours played Scrabble. They loved watching old movies with their chocolate and popcorn.Gene died on January 3, 2008 due to complications from COPD.He is survivied by his wife- her children Larry, Gary and Jewel. Their children and great grandchildren. Gene's son Barry and wife Renee; their children Leah Glover and husband Dan and Jessie Rognon and her husband Brian and 3 great grandchildren; his daughter Debby and her husband John and their children Shawn and his wife Rebecca and Brandy Knoll and her husband Ted and 1 great grandchild.Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Friend- Gene will be greatly missed. His positive attitude, his famous dry sense of humor, his brilliance of mind, his integrity, his extreme strength of will and his prankstermentship- we will miss him.Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.Contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation or National Jewish Hospital (lung disease).
