Renie G. Dunn

Renie G. Dunn, 91 of Longmont, died May 21, 2013. She was born on September 7, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Theodore and Nora (Peterson) Westberg and raised by her paternal grandmother, Charlotte Westberg.Renie married Vern Shockley in 1942, they had two children Sandi and Raul. She moved to CO in 1959 and to Longmont in 1965. Renie married Morton B. (Sam) Dunn on May 29, 1968 in Lyons, CO. She was the original owner/operator of The Village Donut Shop in Longmont. Her professional career included sales, accounting, and she earned her real estate license and worked as a realtor for a time. In March 2008 she moved to Windsor to live with her daughter.Renie was a 46 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 32 in Longmont, where she was a past president. She was an avid bowler well into her 80's, bowling in many local and state tournaments. She was extremely proud of her Colorado Pioneer heritage, her mother having been born in Blackhawk. In recent years she discovered her great-grandparents house which was moved from Blackhawk to Central City to make room for a casino.Renie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Morton B. Dunn in 1990, and a daughter Carol Ann Shockley.Renie is survived by her daughter Sandi Shockley Meier (Al) of Windsor CO, son Raul D. Shockley (fiancée Mary Bunnell) of Longmont, , grandchildren Mallori Jackson Reitz (Keith), Windsor, Kristi Jackson Harris (Roddy), Kelli Jackson Johnson (Bill), both of Greeley, Dane Shockley, Longmont and Megan Shockley, California and 5 great-grandchildren, Westley , Daniel, Emily, Kya, and Caleb.A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at 10:15 AM, Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Eldergarden, 910 27th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
