

Dick was born on April 17, 1937 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Lee and Marian Cornell. He was one of 13 children; 9 boys and 4 girls. He lived his entire life in Colorado. When he was 17 years old, he met his future bride, Margaret “Maggie” Echols. They were married on November 3, 1956 at Palmer Lake Friends Community Church in Palmer Lake. Together they had three daughters, Carol, Diana and Bonnie. The family moved from Canon City to Mead in 1967 where they raised their family.
Before his retirement, Dick was a brick mason for 30 years. He owned his own business for the last 20 years of his career. He was also a skilled carpenter. He loved his family, wife, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, parents, brothers, sisters, in-laws, his cat Sam, and any company that wanted to come over.
Dick was a volunteer firefighter for Mead for many years. He belonged to the Mead Fishing Club and loved to fish and hunt. He loved working in his garage. He would tinker with all sorts of things. Be it working on his carpentry, mechanical projects or giving crew cuts to his friends. He also was known to just sit in his garage and have a beer with a friend.
Dick is survived by his children Carol (Dan) Lyon, Diana (Jesse) Munoz and Bonnie (Jerry) Cameron; His grandchildren Kristen Sindelir, Ashley Fusco, Tyrel Sindelir, Shelby Florio, Amanda Sparacio, Cam Cameron, Melissa Sattler, April Munoz, Jessire Breslin and LaRaesha Kugel; numerous great grandkids; his sister Mary Simonson; his sisters-in-law Dorothy Cornell and Deanna Cornell.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 23rd at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
