Richard Leslie Greeson

Richard ""Dick"" Leslie Greeson of Longmont, Colorado died December 15, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 80.Richard was born on July 29, 1928 in Meeteetse, Wyoming to Ralph Smith and Mary E. (Leslie) Greeson. He grew up in an oil-company town, Grass Creek, Wyoming, where he was the youngest of three children and the only boy. Dick attended and graduated from Thermopolis High School. Dick entered the United States Air Force in 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an instructor for jet mechanics and stationed in Texas during most of his service time. Dick then attended the University of Colorado where he studied music and then mechanical engineering. He married Gladys Becker on November 27, 1958 in Tampa, Kansas.Mr. Greeson worked for Beech Air Craft and then the Bendix Corporation in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he worked on the Apollo space program and helped design moon mission experiments. He then worked for Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona where he had numerous patents and for Ball Aerospace in Westminster from which he retired.Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing, playing the piano, was an animal lover and loved feeding his neighborhood birds. Most of all, he was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them and spent 55 wonderful years with his wife Gladys.Mr. Greeson was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Mary Curry and Dorothy Blystad. He is survived by his wife Gladys; two daughters: Cherry Blue and her husband Daniel of Peoria, Arizona and Kay Ann Greeson-Flamoe and her husband Eric of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren: Mark and Matthew Zakhar and Sophia Flamoe; and his beloved dog, Aspen.Memorial services to celebrate Dick's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18 at Howe Mortuary with Paul Stetler of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating. A private burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Longmont Humane Society, 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont, CO 80501.
