Rita Ruelas de Olivas

Rita nació en Mayo, 22, 1936, en México. Se casó con Francisco Olivas Quezada, el 6 de enero de 1957. Ella se dedicó al cuidado del hogar y cuidando a sus diez hijos.

Ella era devota de la iglesia y participó por más de 30 años en el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús en Boulder, participando en diferentes ministerios. Durante su vida de ministerio, ella fue el pilar en la vida de miembros de la iglesia, en particular, las comunidades de base, siendo Rita su líder.

Sirvió como Sacristan en la misa de Español, siendo ella el punto clave para que la asamblea lograra un ritmo en la iglesia de Cristo.

Ella realizaba posadas en las comunidades de San Lázaro, Boulder Meadows, San Juan del Centro, entre otras. Como misión personal traía a los peregrinos “San José y María” durante las posadas, no solo eran posadas porque ella aprendió de la religiosa Hermana Magdalena y rezaban el Santo Rosario, lo reflexionaban a la luz del Evangelio Dominical, fungiendo Rita como una instructora en sus grupos y también durante las posadas en el grupo de los niños en el catecismo.

Rita era madre y suegra, una abuelita muy amorosa, que te hablaba el día de tu cumpleaños y el Día de la Madre y del Padre, no solo a su familia, sino también a miembros de su comunidad.

Rita tuvo diez hijos, nueras y yernos, 26 nietos y 16 bisnietos. Le sobrevive su esposo Francisco, con quién estuvo casada por 66 años.

On September 11, 2023, Rita Ruelas de Olivas, age 87 from Boulder, Colorado passed away from natural causes.

Rita was born on May 22, 1936, in Mexico. She married Francisco Olivas Quezada on January 6, 1957. She dedicated herself to taking care of the home and taking care of her ten children.

She was devoted to the church and participated for more than 30 years at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Boulder, participating in different ministries. During her life of ministry, she was the pillar in the lives of church members, in particular, in “Comunidades de Base” (home gatherings for Bible study), with Rita being their leader.

She served as Sacristan at the Spanish mass, being the key point for the assembly to achieve a rhythm in the church of Christ.

She held “Posadas” in the communities of San Lázaro, Boulder Meadows, San Juan del Centro, among others. As a personal mission, she brought the pilgrims "Saint Joseph and Mary" during the Posadas, they were not only Posadas because she learned from the religious Sister Magdalena and they prayed the Holy Rosary, they reflected on it in the light of the Sunday Gospel, Rita serving as an instructor in their groups and also during the Posadas in the children's group in catechism.

Rita was a mother, a mother-in-law, a very loving grandmother, who spoke to you on your birthday and on Mother's and Father's Day, not only to her family, but also to members of her community.

Rita had ten children, daughters in law and sons in law, 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Francisco, to whom she was married for 66 years.
