
Robert Martin Funk, 66, of Longmont passed away April 22, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center Louisville, CO. Known to many as Marty and to others as Bob; he was born April 5, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ralph Robert and Dorothy Darlene (Williamson) Funk. Bob was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam.Bob married Judy Ann Phares on Sept 18, 1965 in Indianola, Iowa, both Bob and Judy attended Indianola High School and married shortly after graduation.Bob started working for the phone company after discharge from the Army; he worked many jobs, becoming technical director in1986 to 1997, retiring from then USWEST.Bob was a member of Rocky Mountain Christian Church and Veterans Helping Veterans Now. He found joy in riding dirt bikes and his Harley. In retirement, Bob enjoyed yard work and was meticulous in everything he did.Bob is survived by his wife Judy of Longmont, a son Brett Funk and wife Michele of Longmont, mother Dorothy Funk of West Des Moines, Iowa, two grandchildren Bryson and Jenny, father-in-law and mother- in- law Rex and Vivian Phares of Indianola, Iowa and many friends.Memorial service 1 PM Friday April 27, 2012 at Rocky Mountain Christian Church. Cremation Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made out to Judy Funk and will be distributed to Rocky Mountain Christian Church, HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and Caring Bridge. A memorial service will be held in Martensdale, IA at the Martensdale Community Church 1:00 PM Tuesday May 1, 2012.
