Robert “Bob” D. Larsen, age 81, passed away on February 14, 2026. Born on March 7, 1944, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Herb and Luella (Miller) Larsen, Bob grew up with a natural curiosity and an uncanny ability to understand how things worked. From an early age, he was the one people turned to when something needed fixing, building, or figuring out—skills that would become a lifelong gift he shared generously with others. He graduated from Hudson High School and later earned a degree in Electronics Engineering from Iowa State University.
On May 28, 1967, Bob married the love of his life, Raeann Brink. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, partnership, and unwavering support for one another. Their marriage was a true example of commitment and love, and Bob’s admiration for Raeann was evident to everyone who knew them.
Bob’s professional journey began in the Education Department of Lenox Industries. He later transitioned into the life insurance industry, working for New York Life Insurance Company and then Capital Bankers Life Insurance, where his work ethic, integrity, and leadership led him to rise to administration roles as Vice President of Marketing and CEO. Though he was proud of his career, Bob’s greatest fulfillment came from being a husband, father, and grandfather.
In 2000, Bob and Raeann moved to Colorado to be closer to their sons, a decision that opened a new chapter filled with family, projects, and adventure. After retiring from the insurance industry, Bob cherished the time he spent working alongside his son, Troy, in the construction business - another opportunity to use his remarkable skills and love of creating something meaningful with his own two hands.
Bob was happiest when surrounded by his family. He loved working on projects with his sons, cheering on his grandchildren in whatever they were passionate about, and sharing his trademark wit and gentle teasing with those he loved most. He was a talented woodworker, an avid camper, and a man who found joy in exploring new places. His years volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America while living in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, reflected his lifelong desire to help others and give back.
Those who knew Bob admired his resilience and the way he always found a positive angle, even in the hardest moments. His courageous battle with pancreatic cancer was marked by strength, grace, and an unwavering spirit. He faced every challenge with determination and a quiet optimism that inspired everyone around him.
Above all, Bob deeply loved his family. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather they could have hoped for, and his legacy of courage, strength, kindness, and positivity will continue to live on in each of them.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Raeann; his sons, Trent R. Larsen (Kristalyn) of Louisville, CO, and Troy D. Larsen (Lisa) of Windsor, CO; his five grandchildren—Allie, Lauren, Emme, Ashley, and Zac; his sister-in-law Twyla Larsen of Oelwein, Iowa; and sister-in-law Nancy Wickett of Waukee, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Luella Larsen; his brother, Larry Larsen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allyn and Darlene Brink; sister-in-law Kay Hefty; and brothers-in-law Ben Hefty and John Wickett. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 7, 2026 at 11AM at Heart of Longmont 350 11th Ave, Longmont, CO 80501 with a reception to follow.
