Bob was born on October 13, 1940, in Bakersfield, California, to Harry Newton Morris and Thelma Jean Hart. He spent his early years in Bass Lake, California, near Yosemite National Park, where he was raised by his devoted grandmother, Edna Sullivan Jackson, whom he lovingly called “Mother Babe.” He later moved to Fresno, graduated from Roosevelt High School, attended Fresno State College, and served in the United States Navy.
Bob was known for his sharp mind, warmth, humor, and entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, he worked in sales, insurance, real estate, and business ownership, including founding R. L. Morris and Associates in Colorado and later owning two restaurants in Torrey, Utah.
Faith was central to his life. Bob faithfully served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many callings, including Elders Quorum President, Stake Clerk, Stake Executive Secretary, and High Councilman. He also served in the Portland Oregon Temple and the St. George Utah Temple. His relationship with his Heavenly Father guided his life, and he strove daily to live the tenets of the gospel.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Carol L. Morris; his children, Robert L. Dye (Meredith), Eric J. Morris, Laura D. Morris Edwards (Robert), Steven R. Morris (Erika), Julie R. Sisneros (Reuben), Charlene N. Morris, and Andrea R. Campbell; his stepsons, Brian S. Henke and Bradley J. Henke (Victoria); 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his cousin, Susie Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, step-grandfather, and half-sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Sunrise Service Dogs in Bob’s honor, either online (www.sunriseservicedogs.org) or by mail to 6540 Vincent Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
