Born March 30, 1944 in Lowville, NY, he was the cherished son of LaDette and Virginia Veitch Muncy. A devoted family man, Bob lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, compassion, and an unwavering love for his family.
After graduating from Lowville Academy in 1961, Bob enlisted in the Air Force and served as a firefighter at Nellis AFB, NV, and Kunsan AB, South Korea. At the end of his enlistment, Bob requested to be discharged anywhere on the East or West coast, so the Air Force thought it appropriate to discharge him in Denver. However, this worked out well for Bob. He applied to the Aurora Fire Department and served as a Firefighter from 1966 until retiring as a Lieutenant in 2001. Bob was a “jack of all trades”, keeping busy when not at the station by starting a carpet cleaning business, installing phone lines, unloading freight, and working as a carpenter. To his fellow firefighters, he was a solid mentor and reliable brother in arms; to his family, he was a steady anchor of strength, love, and protection.
Bob had a keen sense of humor, enjoyed history, and loved building things with his hands. Above all, he was a caring and supportive husband and father. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by Rhonda, his wife of 55 years, his three sons Travis (Chris), Tylan (Paula), and Todd (Amber), his 11 grand-children Hayley (Aubrey), Jakob (Amber), Moira, Trevor, Kyle, Riley, Andrew, Spencer, August, Madison, and Matthew. Bob was also the proud great-grandfather of Kaleb, Carter, and Marcus. He was preceded in death by his brother Arnold, and sisters Marie and Carol.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Mount View Cemetery, 3724 Kiowa-Bennett Road, Bennett, Colorado.
Floral arrangements may be sent to Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO 80501 by 5:00 PM on July 17, 2026.
